An Auspicious Autumn

Posted on November 24 2025

If you checked out the sunflower in my last blog (near the bottom), here it is in full maturity with some creature, most likely a Chickadee or Nuthatch, chipping away at the seeds.

Whether you look up or down or all around, there's so much to enjoy in September:

In October, Judy and I headed east to Nova Scotia for a little adventure. First stop Wolfville for the scenery, the Bay of Fundy and the wineries ~

From Wolfville we drove through the Annapolis Valley to Digby. The drive through this part of Nova Scotia at this time of year was breathtaking. What a treat! I want to go east every autumn now.

There's not a lot going on in Digby, but if you find yourself there, we were incredibly impressed with the Funday Restaurant & Suites, and the scallops, as expected, were delicious.

The next day we drove across to the east coast and stayed in the quaint town of Lunenburg, an UNESCO Heritage Site.

With an obligatory picnic stop on our way.

We loved the seafood, so fresh and bountiful. And the sunsets overlooking the harbour.

We spent one gorgeous morning at "The Ovens", a natural park on the ocean. I highly recommend visiting if you're in the area. There's a fantastic walk along the cliff side and loads of picnic tables, so of course, a picnic was in order there too.

We returned to Halifax for a couple of days, stopping in the sweetest town around, Mahone Bay, the infamous Oak IslandQueensland Beach, and Peggy's Cove.(Photo courtesy of Nova Scotia Tourism)

In Halifax we enjoyed the boardwalk, more seafood and we went on the Harbour Hopper, a hop-on, hop-off bus that also takes you for a tour on the water!

From Halifax, my Mom headed back to Edmonton and I flew to Montreal to meet up with Chris. We enjoyed the architecture, the views, a comedy show, another hop-on, hop-off tour and the food. Here's a few photos:

And then we took a train to beautiful Old Quebec City to enjoy even more fantastic architecture, stunning murals, the European vibes, festivities and more great food.

I ended up getting a nasty bug on the last day of the trip and came home to rest. But, apart from that, it was a wonderful vacation.

It's almost the end of November already, wha? We've been blessed with wonderful weather this month. The little amount of snow that we've had, hasn't stuck around. But that's about to change so I'll be indoors more working on some beading projects and researching bedroom ideas for a small, but long overdue reno.

I hope you have a fantastic and festive season ahead, along with a little r&r whenever you can squeeze it in. :)
